Emergency Relief

Neighbourhood and Community Resource Centres are unique in their ability to respond quickly to the needs of their communities. As the cost of living has increased so has the demand for emergency relief across WA.

Centres deliver wrap around services alongside their ER, often with financial counselling, social and emotional wellbeing programs, family and employment services and social support networks all offered from the same Centre. Communities find a safe and trusted place in their own community, there for them through the tough times and for the long term.

34% of our member Centres provide emergency relief to their communities – including food, vouchers, and material relief (firewood, clothing, etc.). On average, Centres distribute around 500kg of food in emergency relief to their communities per month. With Centres distributing around 1,300kg/month in metro areas, 400kg/month in regional centres or large country towns, and 30kg/month for Centres in rural or remote areas.
