Finance Essentials (Part 1)

This 3-part series is designed to provide coordinators, managers, and management committee members alike with an overview of the essentials necessary to manage your Centre's finances well. This series is constructed so you can join 1 or 2 sessions or the whole series. The intent is to demystify the topic and give you some confidence regarding financial governance, the tools at hand with an explanation of them, and monitoring of your Centre's financial status. There will be time for questions at the end of each session. 

This session will cover: The tools at hand - budgets, profit and loss statements, and balance sheets.

The other sessions will cover:
Part 1 (8 August): Why you need to understand your Centre’s finances, financial roles and responsibilities, legal duties of board directors and the key elements of a board financial report.
Part 3 (16 October): Cash flow statements, red flags to look out for, oversight and monitoring.
